Nick Curtola's Williamsburg
Where the I Cavallini chef frequents before and after work + LINKS
My Neighborhood is a Saturday column that serves as an alternative to Plugs. It’s where someone of note (with great taste) shares their five go-to spots in the neighborhood where they live or work. My Neighborhood is for paid subscribers of The Angel only; upgrade your subscription for all-access!
#1 is Nick Curtola, the chef of I Cavallini and The Four Horsemen. These days, most nights you’ll find Nick at the pass of I Cavallini, which he opened last summer with his partners, delivering a seasonal Italian menu that ranges from fried veal sweetbread panzanella to trofie with pesto to a killer grilled Berkshire pork chop slicked with preserved-cherry glaze. It’s one of the hottest tables in town, naturally, given that Nick made quite the name for himself at the decade-old The Four Horsemen just across the street, where the food is as sensational as the wine list is dynamite. I don’t need to tell you how talented Nick is, but I will say he’s easily one of my favorite chefs in this wickedly competitive town. Since he’s been chopping it up in Williamsburg for over 10 years, I asked him to share his five go-to spots in the neighborhood where both of his restaurants are located. Here’s Nick.

This has been a staple for both 4H staff and now the I Cav team. I’ve always loved their coffee and their team is really friendly. They take their time and craft every drink to perfection. If there’s a line, it may take a while, but I think that’s the case with any serious coffee shop. It’s always worth the wait.
