The Angel’s London
Where to eat and drink across the pond
Photographs by Emily Wilson
London is both ancient and relentlessly contemporary, a city where classic and modern British cooking sit comfortably alongside some of the most exciting Indian, West African, Turkish, Pakistani, and immigrant-driven cuisines anywhere. Add a pub culture that cuts across every neighborhood and income bracket, and you get a dining landscape with unmatched range, depth, and deliciousness. It’s my favorite place to eat in the world.
I won’t claim exhaustive knowledge of London’s food scene (we have Vittles for that), but I do know the city somewhat well: a summer living there in college, followed by four visits over the last six years, including one at the end of 2025. Like The Angel’s other travel guides, this list prioritizes the places I return to repeatedly, with a few newer spots mixed in—restaurants I’ve visited once, recently, and haven’t stopped thinking about.
Without further ado, here is The Angel’s London, organized from casual to fancy, with some honorable mentions at the end. Updated in December 2025.
