What is The Angel, and who is behind it?

The Angel is an IACP Award-winning reported newsletter about food, restaurants, and the people who shape how we eat. It’s based in New York City and written by Emily Wilson, a journalist whose work has appeared in Bon Appétit, the Los Angeles Times, New York Magazine, Eater, Vogue, the San Francisco Chronicle, TASTE, ICON, and Resy, among other outlets. Photographs are by David Gurzhiev.

But wait, wasn’t The Angel a Los Angeles thing?

It was. The Angel began in L.A., where we were living and working before moving back to my native New York in the fall of 2025. While the focus is now in New York, coverage of Los Angeles — and elsewhere — will continue. Expect a mix of longform pieces and sharper, POV-driven intel from me and friends of The Angel.
